Skrillex 12/11
So I have been mentally trying to sort out how I felt about the show itself. Let me just start by saying I have the most wonderful, thoughtful boyfriend ever for buying me overpriced tickets to a show he would never in a million years go to. I know he thinks me complacent on the whole thing, but he should never doubt for a minute that I don’t realize how big of a gesture it was. As for the show…it was good. The crowd was exactly what I expected. Who knew they still made rave pills? They can’t be very good as none of the telltale signs were really there. No cuddle puddles, nobody with wiggling eyes, no visible seizures. It seemed like they were just going through the motions. Glowing things, water, stupid toys. I was initially very disappointed that the Skrillex cell was not there. Most of the anticipation for me was the stage design. When I walked in and saw a simple projector screen like a high school assembly my heart sank. I should have known this venue couldn’t do anything cool. I soon got over it and started to drink! NADASTROM was amazing. I found it hilarious that these kids froze when they dropped breaks. They had no idea what was being played. They stopped dancing and looked around like the music had stopped completely. 2fresh was really really good. It’s too bad their name sucks, and they will never enjoy more than moderate success with that name. 12th planet was alot of fun and the lights were finally starting to be used. He had really good energy and was the perfect lead in to Skrillex. He played all the hits. Mixed really well. The bass was some of the best I have ever heard. Unfortunately it ruined all of my videos. Alex called it regret bass. Dropped my phone, Alex got punched by a security guard, punched a security guard back, got kicked out, let back in, and told a rolling shirtless raver boy he was cute, Alex is straight, and this made the whole interaction hilarious. The lights and sound were really good, if I hadn’t seen the videos of the cell I wouldn’t have even known the difference. All in all it was an epic experience and I owe it all to my wonderful boyfriend who is no longer speaking to me.
